LINDSAY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNITY POLICE ACADEMY

The Community Police Academy provides an opportunity to learn and see first-hand the functions and many facets of not just our Department, but all our City has to offer. During the six-week course, students will be exposed to many aspects of police work to include traffic enforcement, gangs, criminal investigations, criminal prosecution, narcotics, and the use of firearms. You will also learn from our Fire Department, Human Resource Department, Finance Department, and City Services. We also hope to have a session to learn from your City Council. Participants will gain a good working knowledge of the Lindsay Department of Public Safety, specifically how we are organized and how we operate. Each participant will also be required to take part in a ride along with a Patrol Officer and will be afforded an opportunity to shoot our firearms as well.

This course is not intended to train people to become Police Officers.  The main objective of the Community Police Academy is to increase understanding between the residents of our community and the Police Officers who serve them, with an overall goal of building strong and lasting relationships.

Graduates will be afforded the opportunity to take part in the Volunteer Program of the Department and play an active role in various operations of the Organization.

To be eligible to attend you must minimally meet the following criteria:

-Be at least 18 years of age

-Live, work, worship or have attended school in the City of Lindsay

-Have no felony convictions or significant criminal history
