City of Lindsay Announces New Director of Recreation Services

The City of Lindsay is pleased to announce the selection of Armando M. da Silva as the City’s new Director of Recreation Services effective Monday, April 10, 2023.  Armando’s selection follows a competitive recruitment process involving a panel consisting of local professionals and community members in which Armando prevailed as the top choice for Lindsay. Armando stood out in the recruitment process for his proven track record in recreation services and dedication to bettering the quality of life of his community.

Armando joins Lindsay with 20 years of experience in the public sectorHe began his career in 2003 with the City of Cerritos as a Senior Center Specialist. In 2005, he advanced to a Senior Center Specialist III and later to a Senior Center Specialist IV where he oversaw daily financial and healthy living seminars for senior citizens, assisted with the City’s annual senior health fair and assisted with recreational programs and private rentals. Armando was then hired by the City of Porterville as the Leisure Services Coordinator. Armando was employed by the City of Porterville for five (5) years before he was hired by the City of Hanford in 2013 as a Recreation Supervisor where he oversaw Adult Sports, the Longfield Center, Aquatics, the Skate Park, Facility Management (Rentals), Youth Services, Senior Services, Special Events and Promotions for the Parks and the Community Services Department.

“I am honored and excited to have been selected to serve as the Director of Recreation Services for the City of Lindsay. Recreation activities play an important role in the community. Recreation activities may involve individuals, small groups, teams or the whole community and are important to people of all different ages, abilities and levels of skills” stated Armando.

During his spare time, Armando enjoys serving on a variety of boards in the Central Valley.  He currently serves on the California Parks and Recreation Society District 7 Board, Tulare Parks and Recreation Commission, Tulare County Parks Advisory Committee (Seat 2), SC Tulare DES Soccer Board, and Tulare DES Portuguese Hall Holy Spirit Committee.

Armando is a native of Southern California, Cerritos, and has resided in Tulare for the past 15 years.  He has been married to his wife, Jacqueline, for 15 years, has two children: a son, Beckham (12) and daughter, Juliana (7), and enjoys being involved in his community.
